At this point I am wondering if buying a car would be more economical; I am paying the driving school just to practice in their car; I am not really learning anything new any longer.

Though I get to use the driving school's yard for parking practice if I use their car, I can at least practice for the road test by myself if I have my own car. Can you practice in your own car without someone with a license sitting in the front passenger seat with you? If you drive it by yourself with only a learner's license and get caught, what is the penalty? What kind of an offense will this be - will it be considered a minor traffic violation, or something bigger/criminal like a misdeameanor or a felony? Though I guess I should really not do anything even remotely against the rules in a country where I am not a citizen and have limited rights. Don't give up on the test. Getting your licence will provide you with so much more freedom and flexibility.
